Psilocybin Assisted Therapy

Psilocybin Assisted Therapy can be an expansive deep dive into the uncharted territory of your inner world, and to the true nature of the world around you. It can open doors that are difficult to reach in ordinary consciousness. And yet, it is not for the faint of heart. The process may be deeply challenging, or extraordinarily beautiful, or both. It may be heart opening, and it may shake you to your core. Or both.

You will bring all of you to this process. The hurts, losses, joys and strengths from your past. The way you show up in the present. And your hopes and longings for the future. Psilocybin therapy will engage all of your humanness- from the learned habits that get in your way to the essential nature of your soul.

To enter into relationship with this powerful medicine takes courage. A willingness to surrender to the experience and to whatever the mushrooms choose to teach you. If you choose this path, I will be honored to walk beside you through the whole process- preparation, the journey itself, and the integration of the experience into your life.

What does this look like?

There are several stages to this process. Ideally, preparation and integration sessions will happen in person. In some cases, we can work virtually, but at least one session before your journey will need to be in person, in Boulder, Colorado. For preparation and integration sessions, in good weather and in the warm seasons, we can meet outside if you prefer.

Meeting and Screening. One Hour.

We will get to know each other a bit, making sure that it feels like a good enough fit to both of us to move forward. Together we’ll decide if psilocybin is likely to be safe and helpful in your situation, and if the timing is right for you. (Note: you always have the right to change your mind, right up to the last minute!)

Preparation. 3 Sessions Minimum.

Good preparation is essential for a deep and meaningful journey. We will work together to identify and refine your intention for this experience. We will review your life to this point, identifying the strengths that will support you in the journey, and noting the situations- traumas, losses, developmental hurts- that are incomplete and may surface during your journey. You will develop practices for the days and weeks prior to the journey that deepen your intention and set it in motion.

Throughout this process we are also developing a connection so that you feel comfortable with me, and known by me. When journey day comes, you will feel clear about your intention, have strategies for navigating challenging aspects, and feel safe and ready for the experience.

Journey Day. Six hours.

Under Colorado regulations, your journey will take place at a licensed healing center. Ideally, you will be able to visit ahead of time to see the space you will be in. You can bring meaningful objects, wall hangings, and  your own pillow and blankets to make the space feel like yours.

I will be with you for six hours, enough time for you to move through the entire journey and get re-grounded in ordinary consciousness. You will need a pre-arranged ride to get you home.

You will have music that has been curated to help the journey unfold. I will be present to support and guide you as needed. Everyone’s journey is completely unique. You may stay internally focused for the majority of the time, or you may find that you want relational interaction. Or a combination of both. My commitment is to trust the mushrooms and how they choose to teach you, and to let your journey unfold as it naturally does.

Integration. At least two sessions.

We will meet within five days of your journey, again in a week or two, and then more sessions as needed. Together we will explore your journey using talk, art, writing, and experiential exercises to allow it to continue to unfold in you. Integration is the process of letting the experiences and teachings of the journey show up as shifts in your life, and in your perceptions of yourself, others, and the world around you. You may notice changes in your beliefs, behaviors, and your general sense of yourself. These shifts may be subtle, and during this integration time its important to stay as mindful and grounded in your body as possible so you can notice and cultivate them. In the integration phase, you will develop a path or practices that nourish whatever seeds and teachings have been given to you.
